Time to Re Group

Since moving overseas I haven't yet got back into a sewing or a blogging routine-looking forward to that in upcoming months.

I've managed a few blocks for Cherish group of the do. Good Stitches bee.  I always enjoy making the blocks to learn and practice new techniques, even if the colours or blocks aren't always what I'd choose.

My turn was going to be this month, but due to a mix up I have a month's grace. I've been trialling an improv log cabin block with red, orange and/or yellow centres and neutral logs making up the block to 12 1/2 " like this

Hmm I seem to have used different lenses and white balance here- that's something to work on.

I have a large number of WsiP (and some Works-Not-in-Progress that should be! Nigel and Stephanie I need to have a word with you about this)! Maybe I'll join in the Finish Along when they're up to the third quarter, seems to work for lots of people.

In upcoming posts: a sewing room tour (yes I now have a space (as long as we don't have guests) where I can leave stuff out in progress, not that I didn't before, but I can shut the door and at least pretend it's tidy) and a new (old) sewing machine which needs a bit of work and some of you may have insight to add...?

  1. Hope you're settling back into a routine and re-adjusting to life in NZ. It's a little odd to think of NZ as overseas from Australia but, of course it is. Maybe life in the North and Western hemispheres has programmed me to think of "overseas" as Europe or China, and not so much Oceania, despite the word OCEAN right smack dab at the front of it. Go figure.

Now that I've bored you with my geographical perspective bias, I really do look forward to seeing what you get up to now that you've settled in. :-)

  2. A sewing room! How luxurious, I am looking forward to the tour:-) Love your improv log cabin blocks - the red/yellow/orange really sings against the neutrals.

  3. I know how hard it is to readjust after moving back home overseas! I figure, blogging is "optional" ;). Looking forward to seeing your sewing space - it is just wonderful to be able to leave a mess and close the door!
