Auditioning Bindings

The blue crosshatch is nice against the back but quite subtle on the front.

I like the red but don't have enough for for all the way round and not sure if I want scrappy (perhaps with the navy stripes).

Should I go & hunt for a suitable red or make do?

Ahhh Dilemmas!!?

  1. You cannot go wrong either way. I almost always tend to the more sedate route, but that doesn't make it right. If in doubt, do what ever is easier. I often audition the effect by putting the different fabrics up next to the quilt to auditions before cutting the binding to be certain that I am happy with it. Good luck, can't wait to see it!.

  2. Compliment or contrast... well, I like both options, so I'm no help! I too audition fabrics for a couple of days before making that final decision. Good luck!

  3. I like them both, but my personal preference is the crosshatch. I like the red, but maybe all the way around it would dominate the quilt? With the crosshatch, I think the reds that are already in the quilt will pop more. I'm sure whatever you pick will be just right. I love the shirtings!

  4. Several reds, very narrow, will be perfect!! Great quilt!

  5. I like the way the blue stripe or the red pick up what's going on in the quilt - the crosshatch looks a bit lost. Whatever it is a lovely quilt!

  8. I won't be of much help I am afraid since I like them both. I would say go with what you have at hand.
